Pentest Authorization Letter
Your written, signed proof that the client actually asked for this testing.
What It Is
A Pentest Authorization Letter is the written, contractual permission a real engagement needs. It confirms who is authorizing the test, what's in scope, and during which window testing is allowed to happen — alongside (not instead of) this app's DNS-based technical target verification.
Why It Matters
It's the single most important document in this list: without it, penetration testing is legally indistinguishable from unauthorized computer access in most jurisdictions. Get it signed before any testing begins. If you also need operational details like testing hours and emergency contacts, pair this with a Rules of Engagement document.
